CarNode stores your vehicles, services, fuel log, reminders, photos and documents only on your device. There is no user account, no advertising, no tracking and no analytics. We have no access to your data.
All entries are kept in the app's protected storage on your device. Depending on your device settings they are part of the device backup (iCloud Backup on Apple, Google backup on Android). Apple or Google perform these backups under their own privacy policies; we have no access to them. “Delete all data” in the app or uninstalling the app removes the data from the device.
Backup files and the vehicle file (.carnode) are only created when you trigger it in the app. You decide where to save them and whom to send them to.
Photos and documents you add stay on your device. Reading registration documents and receipts happens entirely on the device (iOS: Apple Vision, Android: Google ML Kit, offline). On Android, Google ML Kit may send technical usage and performance data (no image content) to Google.
When you use “Cheap fuel”, the app sends your location rounded to about 100 m, the search radius and the fuel type to our lookup service. It requests the prices from the Tankerkönig API (data from the German Market Transparency Unit for Fuels, MTS-K) and returns them to the app. Your location is not stored. For this request the app signs in anonymously (a random identifier not linked to you). For technical reasons your IP address is processed.
The processor is Supabase Inc. (USA), project region EU (Ireland). Where data reaches the USA, this is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (a feature you requested). Location access only happens with your permission and only while the app is in use.
“CarNode Pro” is bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is handled exclusively by Apple or Google; we receive no payment data. The purchase status is checked on your device.
Reminders (e.g. vehicle inspection) are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push server.
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR). As we do not store personal data permanently, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Rhineland-Palatinate.
